Greek New Testaments

There are many different manuscript variations available. These can be divided into three main groups, the ancient family, the majority family and the Textus Receptus. The Textus Receptus is really an eclectic text derived from seven manuscripts from the majority family. Since it is an important task to determine which text is most accurate, texts from all families are listed here. No matter where you land in the realm of textual criticism it is important to have a good feel as to what is in each manuscript. Since many people would like recommendations to work on textual criticism as well as other original writings, a category for textual criticism is also listed here.

2. Readers Greek New Testaments (GNT with helps, but no parallel translation):

There are many words in the GNT that only occur once or a few times. It is helpful to have a text with vocabulary helps (and other aids) that help with the exact page that you are reading. This saves significant time over looking words up in a dictionary. The bottom line is that these types of GNT's keep you reading..

3. Greek New Testaments with Parallel Languages:

There are many New Testaments with parallel languages. These can assist Greek reading or allow your Greek knowledge to help you learn other languages, like Latin. Some say that Greek New Testaments which have a parallel in another language are too much of a crutch. If a crutch they be big or small it is better to use them than never walk at all.

Zondervan (March 30, 2008); ISBN: 0310241642
Older interlinears have the interlinear text in an old typeface, sometimes hard to read, and are based on the Greek New Testament of 1952 (Nestle-Aland 21st ed.). The English is stilted and awkward. This new interlinear has Mounce’s own formal equivalent translation as the interlinear English text, and by use of the GK numbers and a series of arrows and asterisks, relates the Greek words to this English text. The KJV and NIV text run in columns on either side of the interlinear text for easy comparison of Greek text and modern translation. By careful spacing and with computer technology, both the interlinear text and the translation text run full length on the page.

4. Textual Criticism:

There have been many books written on this topic. The topic seems to breed strong rhetoric, so the reader must read with care to sift out the polemics.
