1. Description of Greek in a Week

Greek In A Week is an intense presentation of the basics of the language of the New Testament within five days. Some of the presentations are require offer five days in class and others are only three. (The other two days are covered on audio/visual CD-Roms.)

This year you can start learning or refresh your biblical language skills. Now you can your exegesis to a deeper level and bypass the confusion created by so many translations. This course provides the essentials for understanding the New Testament. The vast majority of the church and its leadership is limited to superficial biblical language study aids. This course equips you to go to the original text to study the Bible.

This year will be the seventh annual presentation of Greek In A Week. John Schwandt, Fellow of Languages at New St. Andrews College developed GIAW and will be offering it at various locations across the nation. This year also marks the debut of Hebrew in a Week presented by Ben Merkle.

These courses are attended by a variety of participants. Although, pastors and church leaders normally make up the majority of the classes, attendees widely vary in age (16+) and background (e.g., students, parents, teachers, pastors), everyone is bonded by their zeal for learning the languages of our scriptures.

2. A few uncommon benefits of this type of program

The Greek In A Week program guarantees knowledge. Since all of the study (e.g., vocabulary, paradigm reviews, translation and composition) is accomplished under the immediate direction of the instructor, it is impossible to come away from the week without a considerable understanding of basic Greek.

Greek In A Week provides a considerable advantage to pastors who want to jumpstart their understanding of Greek or students who plan to take Greek in the coming academic year. The student who has worked through the entire system of the language will be enabled to make the most of class by understanding the finer points of the lecture and asking insightful questions.

Greek In A Week is also the perfect refresher for those who have studied a little Greek in the past but have forgotten most of it. The systematic approach to the course provides a map to collect and arrange all of those parts of the language that have slipped away. It will also added to the total body of knowledge and reading skill of anyone who has studied Greek in the past.

Greek In A Week will grant clarity of understanding to those who have lost their way amid the many paradigms presented in a normal year of Greek. When the many details of the language are stretched out over the course of a year, it is easy to lose sight of which ones are more important and how they all relate to each other (missing the forest for the trees). Students who work through all of the basic grammar in five days gain a clear understanding of how the details connect.
