Sigh. . .
I a, fully aware that this may shock our dear Mr. Schwandt, but think that I am finally thankful for the Greek language.
So, what took this ungrateful wretch so long to join the party?
So I was stroking my pride, and having my own pity party- sure, some came, but nobody stayed for long.
I think we all have to admit we've been here, not appreciating Greek grammar the way Wallace would. But it is important -really it is.

Here was my breakthrough. In my NAS translation (really, I do prefer King James, it's just that I am fondly attached to this particular NAS Bible-so call me a sentimentalist) A few things were disrupting my peace of mind.
1 John 5:7 states, "For (or indeed) the three are witnesses"in the Greek, whereas, in my eng. Bible, this statement is found in verse 8, and has "the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement" attached to it.
Now, I APPRECIATE the fact that in the Greek, "the three are witnesses" is sanctioned in a separate verse apart from the other statements, because I am sensing the stronger emphasis.
The other thing is this, I don't like my eng. Bible's "three are in agreement"! Amen to the fact that the Greek says, "the three are ONE" - I love it. . . it relates so much more to the reader (hmmnn, like the Trinity?)
Yes, I am grateful. . . I hate the whaps, but, if true consolation only comes from getting whapped, so spank me, and God grant me patience and joy to endure it. [/i]

The Greek reads here: 7 ὅτι τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὁ Πατὴρ, ὁ Λόγος καὶ τὸ ἅγιον Πνεῦμα, καὶ οὗτοι οἱ τρεῖς ἕν εἰσι.

Be careful with the articles!:
[witnessing], that three (in number) are the witnessing/witnesses in (the) heaven(s), the Fathet, the Word and the Holy Spirit and these (the) three are one.
